Recently a client called, concerned because his ex-wife threatened to move out of town with the children. Needless to say, he was distraught. I explained that his ex-wife could not simply move out of town with the children. In fact, Michigan law is designed to protect the parent’s rights to be with the children and seeking to move out-of-state is not often easily permitted by the court system. To be sure; I went to court with my client and protected their rights, and the rights of their children. As a result, the court forbid the mother from removing the children from the state. |
